Well I tell y’all what, it has been hot as Hades here this past week and to the looks of the sky as the sun moves on to tomorrow, it’s going to be another hot week. Not many people can take the heat like a farmer. This heat has definitely shown me what I am made of. It may have made me borderline crazy at times but plenty of fluids, healthy food, and my passion to produce nutrient dense foods for y’all keeps me going day by day.

I once saw this Dos Equis beer advertisement on a billboard in South Florida back in 2009 that had a picture of the sappy “most interesting man in the world” holding a bottle of Dos Equis and a quote posted next to it that read, “INTEGRITY: What you do when no one is looking!” To this day I remember that advertisement and it rings loud and clear with how we run our farm. Here at Nature’s Roots Farm we have nothing to hide in how we raise our livestock and produce our food. Integral Transparency not only includes what we do when no one is looking but sharing and communicating the struggles along with our successes with how we do and what we do. This past week was a pretty stressful week. We added the egg mobile into production here on the farm and just trying to figure out where and how it fit into the flow of things took a toll on everyone. But after a couple of days and trial and error, we got it down pretty good and found its place in our day.

In my line of business, I get to spend a lot of time in the woods working here on the farm. I value this time as meditation time and get to appreciate what I participate in on a daily basis, caring for the land and forest to create a regenerative ecosystem to support our soils, plants, animals, our wildlife, ourselves, and our patrons. Lately, I have been meditating on what kind of footprint I am leaving in this lifetime. Am I creating a footprint that costs a great deal on Nature or am I leaving a footprint that will benefit future generations to come?
