Schedule a Farm Tour

We are always excited to provide farm tours to individuals interested in learning more about who we are and what we do.  We believe it is important for people to have a deeper connection to where their food really comes from and the best way to do that is to tour the farm where you buy or are considering to buy your food. People should understand how their food is grown and raised and what goes into that process.  Never be afraid to ask the tough questions to your local farmer so that you can be confident that what you are purchasing was grown and raised focusing on sustainable and holistic practices.

Farm Updates

April 15th is coming up soon and most people think of it as “tax day” but for us here at Nature’s Roots Farm, its a little different.  April 15th means new beginnings.  This is our official launch day for our farm which will be located at 2017 Sunset Road, Oxford, NC, 27565.

Nature’s Roots Farm is a 100-acre holistic agroforestry farm nestled in the rolling hills of the peidmont region of North Cackolackie.  We are currently preparing our infrastructure to be able to support rotational grazing of livestock around pasture and in the forest using cows, pigs, and chickens.  Over the past 8 months we have been observing and preparing the land to resurrect an old family farm that was once owned by Angela’s family and also part of the Watson family tobacco plantation.  We are very excited to join the community in Oxford and to be able to produce nutrient dense foods to friends and family members in our local region.

Nature’s Roots Farm is also exploring new ventures in woodlot management and implementing mycoforestry practices (growing gourmet mushrooms in the woods.)  About 85% of the land is mixed hardwoods and loblolly pines that needs some intensive management to thrive and help keep the land healthy.  That being said, we just received our new Turner Band Saw Mill and will be offering custom milled products and milling services.  Be sure to email us for more details if you are interested in milled products or services at [email protected]

Along with managing livestock, producing foods, and managing the woodlot, we are also opening our doors as an educational hub to teach people how to replicate our holistic farming practices.  We are currently taking applications for apprentices.  If you are interested in working alongside us at the farm or know someone interested in starting a new chapter in their lives, please email us at [email protected]  and we will send an application.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Come out and visit with us!  We have an open door policy and would love to meet new friends and neighbors.  If you would like a tour, just shoot us an email and we will be happy to schedule a private tour so that you can get acquainted with Nature’sRoots Farm.
